Here's a brief background to the story...Josh has been out of town a lot over the past few weeks. He came home early Wednesday afternoon, and was leaving again Wednesday night, so I asked if he could do a few things before he left again: hook up the washer and dryer (they had been unhooked to install trim), and retrieve the random boxes from the attic. When he got home I was out running around getting TB tested and drug tested for my new job. On my way home from the TB test, I get this phone call...
"Honey? Are you having a good day?" (and of those of us who are married, you have to know that a doozie is coming next)
"Yeah, what's up? I'm almost home"
"Do you have $50 cash?"
"Uh, no, I never carry cash"
"Well, we need $50"
"Why" (about this time I round the curve in my road and see a whole lot of cars parked in front of my driveway) "Who's at our house? What's going on?"
"I fell through the ceiling. My brother sent a guy over to patch to hole and we have to pay him."
"You what?!?!?!?!"
So apparently when he was retrieving the boxes from the attic, he had a little mishap. When we moved in, he had put plywood down in the attic as a makeshift floor so he could stack boxes on it. He was reaching for the last box, and he thought he had his hand on a beam. Not so much. The plywood snapped, and he went shoulders first through the ceiling over the garage. Thank heavens he hooked his knee on a beam, or he would have landed on his head on the concrete! For the record, my first question when I got home was, "Are you okay?" And thank heavens that he was! After seeing the location of the hole and realizing it was directly over the shelfs where all my large kitchen appliances are stored, the next question was, "Did you break anything important?" The blender. Dadgummit I loved that blender! But I'd much rather have a broken blender than a broken husband. :) I love my Joshua! And no worries, $50 later the hole was repaired and you can hardly even tell it was ever there (except for the plaster all over the garage floor and the bruises all over Josh's legs and back) ;)
