Rockettes and ICE!

Yesterday my mother-in-law and I travelled to Nashville to see the Rockettes Christmas show at the Grand Ole Opry and ICE. It was such a great day! We were worn out when we got home, but we had a really great time. And if I could have gotten a good enough picture of Opry Mills Mall parking lot, I would have been able to convince you that we are NOT, in fact, in a recession. It was total chaos...we had to park about 1/2 mile away from the mall (and it took us a good 1/2 hour to find that spot). We thought we'd run in to the food court to grab a bite before going to the Opry, but the mall was SO crowded it took us at least 15 minutes to even get from the front door to the food court. Craziness! Anyway, here are some pics...

Vicki and I at the Opry house

Gaslight theater...green for the Grinch!

All suited up in the big blue parkas they gave us to weather the cold!

Did I mention that everything in the following pictures is completely made out of ice? Yes, that means it was SUPER cold in there!

I only had one glove on because I was taking pictures the whole time we were in there...my right hand was FROZEN by the end...I couldn't even feel the buttons on my camera anymore. :)

Giant ice slide from the side

About to go down the ice slide!

The view from the bottom looking up

Vicki in the ice tunnel

Did I mention that ALL of this is made from ice? So awesome!

The pic does not do this justice...it was gorgeous in person

100% ice...crazy, huh?

The last scene before you leave was the nativity...it was breathtaking...
the pics don't really do it justice

Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus...the characters lit up as you listen to the story of the birth of Christ

The whole scene...so beautiful!

I mean, look at the detail...I can't imagine how long this took.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! If you ever get the chance to see the Rockettes Christmas show or the ICE exhibit at Gaylord Opryland, you should definitely do it! (Just wear long johns, a thick scarf, gloves and well insulated shoes when you go to ICE...and take advantage of the overpriced hot chocolate at the end...it's worth it. :)
