January 2010

Around the middle of January, I participated in the Eskimo Escapades in Knoxville. That's where you ski in the TN River in the dead of winter! The day we went was a balmy 50 degrees. :) I, for the record, did not ski. I can barely ski when it's warm outside, and I know I couldn't stay out of the water when it was that cold! So, I went tubing instead. Hey! It was for a good cause! (The money they raised benefitted the Patricia Neal Innovative Recreation Cooperative...they teach patients with spinal cord injuries, head injuries, stroke, etc. to do outdoor activities again...like water ski!) If you want to participate this year, it's not too late to register! Just click the link above!

This is me in my wetsuit...freezing half to death and waiting my turn!

Ice on the other side of the river. Awesome! :)

Me in the tube. I didn't even get wet. Some people *ahem* called me a pansy, but I still raised the same amount of money as they did!

We also did a lot of napping...this was such a power nap that I didn't even notice Lucy was laying on top of me. ;)

We had a big snow (for the south, anyway!) on January 30.  Here are some pics of various things around the house...for the record, the dogs DO NOT like the snow.  They don't like anything involving their feet getting wet...unless it's diving into a creek or pond after some type of wildlife.  ;)

Josh all bundled up

My feet sinking into the snow!  woohoo!

Ice on tree branches...thankfully none of them fell on our house!

Our house from the road in the snow.

Josh went to Walmart because I needed some cereal and eggs.  This is what he brought home.  ;) (I give you evidence "A" as to why he does not do our grocery shopping!)
