Prayer request

Sharon, one of my former patients called me late Thursday night...here's her story (don't worry, there's no HIPAA violation here...she asked me to share her story with everyone so we can all "bombard the Big Guy with prayers" :)

About a year ago she was involved in a car accident, and I had been seeing her on and off for shoulder and neck pain. She would get better, then get worse, and other than LOTS of muscle guarding around her upper thoracic spine, I couldn't really put my finger on why she wasn't getting better. She had multiple x-rays, but they never showed anything other than mild DDD (dengenerative disc disease) in her cervical and thoracic spine, which all of us PT's know occurs in a huge part of the population over age 40...I was not convinced that was her biggest problem. I kept pushing for a second opinion, and finally she went to see another doctor a few months ago. Well, they did an MRI 2 weeks ago, and she was told Thursday afternoon that she has metastatic cancer in her spine. They have not yet been able to locate the primary source of cancer. She's going to meet with an oncologist this next week, and she's really not sure what her future holds.

Praise the Lord that she is a Christian, and I almost cried when she told me, "One way or the other, He'll heal me." That is so so true, but it's still a hard pill to swallow. She's confident that God has a perfect plan, and so am I. Pray that His will be done, and if that is to heal her, to do it quickly. If not, that He will have grace and mercy on her nearing the end of her life on earth. Also pray for her financial situation. She does not have health insurance, and she's a little concerned about what that will mean for her treatment options. I'll keep you updated as I hear from her. Until then, please please keep her in your prayers. She's a prayer warrior and an awesome woman of God. She's incredibly passionate about everything she pursues, and I pray that her passion will remain in her fight with cancer.
