In keeping with the 100th post tradition, this is 100 things about me. Although I've altered the format a bit since I read Angela's post and liked the way she did hers. Here goes...
Favorite Restaurants
1. J. Alexander’s (the best salads and carrot cake on the planet!)
2. Chili’s (chips and salsa anyone?)
3. Chic-fil-A (I don’t care what anybody says, you can’t beat a #1 with lemonade…and oh, those hand dipped milkshakes)
4. Los Amigos (the one in Maryville…love the rice and beans!)
5. Subs and Such (again in Maryville…the best sub sandwiches of anywhere)
6. Lillie Mae’s Place (Red Bank….Yum-O catfish fillets on Fridays!)
7. Calhoun’s on the River (my tummy is growling thinking about their strawberry shortcake)
8. Riverside Tavern (sadly, no longer in business…this is where we had our rehearsal dinner! They had super yummy steaks and the best boursin cheese mashed potatoes I’ve ever had…I’m still trying to find the recipe.)
9. Cheesecake factory (the one in Nashville was ½ mile from my condo when I lived there…the banana cream cheesecake with hot fudge sauce is still my fav!)
10. Richy Cream doughnuts (again in Maryville…better than any Krispy Kreme you’ll ever have…my parents used these doughnuts as bribes when I was a kid…it worked everytime!)
TV Shows I rarely miss
1. CSI, the original
2. Biggest Loser
3. Two and a half men (reruns or new…this show makes me laugh!)
4. Everybody Loves Raymond (the reruns come on every night, and Josh and I laugh hysterically!)
5. Criminal Minds
6. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
7. Ace of Cakes
8. Any sporting event on our 14 channels because Josh will definitely have it tuned into that
9. The Ultimate Fighter, because Josh makes me watch it J (that’s usually when I do my blogging, check my e-mail, clean the house, etc…I can’t stand to see guys beat each other up!)
10. The local news, but I only watch the happy stories
CDs I can listen to all the way through over and over
1. Steven Curtis Chapman Christmas
2. ALL of my SHBC Orchestra Practice CDs
3. Dixie Chicks...their first 3 albums
4. Amy Grant Christmas
5. Christina Aguilera: Back to Basics
6. Martina McBride Christmas (are you seeing a theme?)
7. Rascal Flatts: Greatest Hits
8. Big and Rich: Horse of a Different Color
9. Josh Turner: Everything is Fine
10. Josh Turner: Your Man
Places close to my house that I like to go to
1. The Rush…it’s no secret by now that I’m obsessed with working out
2. Target!
3. Chester Frost Park
4. Nana’s Custard Shop on Hixson Pike
5. Stockdale’s, Lowe’s, Home Depot…home decorating/improvements makes me excited!
6. Bed Bath and Beyond
7. The walking bridge and Coolidge Park (it’s 15 minutes…that’s close isn’t it?)
8. The new Publix (such yummy cakes and pastries!)
9. Moe’s Southwest Grill…I always get a Moo Moo Mr. Cow, unfortunately you don’t get a cookie if you’re over the age of 12
10. Holcomb Garden Center
People and things that make me laugh
1. My husband…he’ll never mature past age 12…I’m slowly coming to terms with that
2. My dogs: Lucy’s obsession with socks and Linus being a “chicken little”
3. My best girlfriends…I always have laugh lines on my face when I leave them!
4. Duff on Ace of Cakes
5. Everybody Loves Raymond
6. My Nana and her pranks (even though she’s 85, she can still out-prank me!)
7. People who thrive on drama
8. When my to do list is insanely long, I laugh…instead of crying
9. My patients with dementia…the ones that are pleasantly confused, of course
10. When people take life too seriously…it’s really not worth it, I promise
Things that I think are overrated
1. Working overtime
2. Digital cable ($130 per month for cable and internet? You can’t be serious! Comcast needs some competition in Chattanooga, and I really shouldn’t be watching so much TV)
3. A squeaky clean house
4. Paying lots of money to park close instead of parking far away for free and getting a little exercise (I’m sure I’ll feel differently about this one when we have kids!)
5. Giant SUVs that guzzle gas…drive a minivan people! They’re more practical anyway
6. Shaving my legs
7. Fixing my hair in any way other than a ponytail
8. Hershey’s chocolate…sorry people, but I’m a chocolate snob
9. New furniture prices (although my dad might disagree right now as he desperately wants me to get rid of the couch in my den and buy a new one)
10. Clothing prices…seriously, it couldn’t have cost more than $5 for you to make that shirt!
My pet peeves
1. People who don’t say “please,” “excuse me” and “thank you”
2. People who don’t clean up their own mess (literally or figuratively)
3. When someone does not make good on a promise
4. When people call my cell phone 10 times and don’t leave a message…for the record, I WILL NOT call you back if you don’t leave a message, I don’t care who you are or how long I’ve known you...and sometimes even if you do leave a message it'll take me forever to call you back. :)
5. When my patient’s are consistently late to their scheduled appointments (Now, I understand that life happens sometimes, but when you are 10-15 minutes late for more than 3 appointments in a row, I will tell you to reschedule and not see you that day. If you respect my time, I will gladly respect yours.)
6. Insurance companies dictating the care my patient’s get (I did NOT go to school for 7 years…and my MD comrades for much longer that that…for someone who is following a protocol with no medical background to tell me what treatments can or cannot be done for my patients. The system stresses me out.)
7. Patients who are completely non-compliant then whine to me about how they’re not getting better. I try to be nice, but what I really want to say is, “Suck it up and stop being a baby!” In case you’re wondering, we can ALL see through your act, and we’re all equally annoyed by it.
8. Those “do as I say and not as I do” people
9. Basic grammatical errors that should be corrected by 6th grade (your/you're, their/there/they're, etc.)
10. Fair weather fans/Bandwagon jumpers…my blood will run orange until I die, no matter how sad our football team is.
Concerts I have been to
1. New Kids on the Block when I was in 5th grade
2. Vince Gill
3. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
4. Alan Jackson (Rascal Flatts opened)
5. Big and Rich (Trent Tomlinson opened)
6. Rascal Flatts (Taylor Swift opened)
7. Jason Aldean (Miranda Lambert opened)
8. Rodney Adkins
9. Josh Turner
10. Kenny Chesney (x2)
Things I cannot live without
1. Josh
2. Orange juice
3. My Tempurpedic pillow
4. My cell phone (it’s my connection to everybody that I don’t get to see very often anymore)
5. Chocolate
6. Books
7. Working out…it’s my “me” time and my stress relief…I’m VERY cranky when I don’t get it in!
8. My furbabies
9. Flowers in the spring
10. A good night’s sleep
Important dates in my life
1. September 8, 1981…the day I was born!
2. February 19, 1981…the day my husband was born…I believe God knew that even before we were ever thought of!
3. December 14, 1996…this is the day my mom died. Everything in my life to this point has been defined as happening as either before or after that date. Going through that has also strengthened my faith unbelieveably and shaped me into who I am today. Yes, I miss her terribly, and I think about her every day. But I know God has a big plan, and I trust that He is sovereign.
4. March 2003…when I found out I got into Belmont for Physical Therapy school….I was sooooo excited to be moving to Nashville! It was the first time I’d really ever moved away from home.
5. May 14, 2005…the day I married the love of my life!
6. January 27, 2006…the day we closed on our first house in Knoxville. Very exciting!
7. August 11, 2006…the day I graduated from Belmont with my Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy!
8. September 8, 2006…the day I found out I passed my boards (yes, it’s also my birthday…it was a great day!)
9. September 2007…the month that God answered our prayers for new jobs and kicked a bunch of doors wide open for our move to Chattanooga…why here exactly, we’re not sure yet, but we knew it was definitely a God thing!
10. November 5, 2007…the day we moved to Chattanooga (into a little apartment in Red Bank with most all of our stuff in storage…our house in Knoxville closed on November 8)
11. March 20, 2008…The day we closed on our house in Chattanooga!
