By The Grace of God

Below is a post from a care page. To read the whole story, go to www.carepages.com and type in DeborahKaye. Kaye's husband, Kent works with my daddy. Long story short, she has been battling a glioblastoma for 2 1/2 years, and will soon win her battle and go home to live with Jesus. Their daughter Hannah (I think she's 7) has been on my heart so much lately, as I too lost my mom when I was young (I was 15). This post is by Kaye's sister, Anne, and speaks about Hannah. I hope it touches your heart like it did mine. Please please pray for this family in the coming months and years...go to their carepage (you'll have to create a log-in) and leave a note that you're praying for them. You have no idea how much those little notes mean.

"Do Not Be Afraid...God is With Us"

Out of the mouth of babes...today I will focus on our little Hannah.

Hannah's teacher, Mrs. Cobb received a couple of e-mails in the past week. A couple of the first grade students were upset because they felt like they hadn't prayed hard enough because God hadn't done a miracle, He hadn't healed Hannah's mom, Kaye. Mrs. Cobb took Hannah aside and explained that a few of the students were upset and the time had come to explain to the class that Hannah's mother was dying. She gave Hannah the option to stay and listen or to be occupied doing something else. Hannah chose to sit right beside Mrs. Cobb while she used a book..."When Someone You Love Has Cancer".

This book explained to the children what cancer was...and that it was okay to cry. Mrs. Cobb explained that when she found out that Mrs. Kaye had cancer that she cried....she states that she remembered that day as if it were yesterday. Hannah was only 4 1/2 years old when Kaye found the tumor. She spoke up and said yes I remember too,...you knelt beside my mother and prayed for her along with Pastor Darren...then we went to Florida that day...

This is when I have to interrupt ...Our children are watching our lives. No matter what is going on, they are taking notes.

Mrs. Cobb continues to speak to the class, "I remember I was crying and Mrs. Kaye said...stop that crying...either way I am a winner..."Hannah continued to add to the conversation, my mother is going to Heaven, and I would like her to stay here, but Heaven is better...and her mother is there too!"

Mrs. Cobb ended the special time by asking the children, "Did you ever ask your parent for something that you didn't get? ....one spoke up...I ask for a pony...another, I ask for a certain toy....etc.." Just because you didn't get it, does that mean your parents didn't hear you?...Did it mean they didn't love you?...We just have to trust that they know what is best for us.

Just because God doesn't answer our prayers and give us what we want....Does it mean God didn't hear us?.....Does it mean that God doesn't love us?...We have to love Jesus more than anything else...Does anyone know of a verse that tells us this...Hannah spoke up..DO NOT BE AFRAID...GOD IS WITH US...One little boy spoke up...I get it..we just need to trust Him!"

God's unseen presence comforts me,I know He's always near; And when life's storms besiege my soul,He says, "My child, I'm here."--D. De Haan

Matthew 28:20...I am with you always, even to the end of the age...

He didn't end with "always"...but "all the days"...I love that part...

He has been with us the past 2 1/2 years...and he will be with us all of our days...He has been with Hannah...I am so thankful that Kaye has left Hannah with the hope of Heaven...the hope of living forever.

For those wanting an update on Kaye...Kaye has progressively gotten weaker this week. She sleeps most of the day and gets up a few hours for eating. She is having difficulty swallowing and continues to have some breakthrough pain...and she is unable to mutter more than one to two words at a time...she recognizes her close friends and family but can't remember their names...When the nurse ask Kaye who Kent was...she muttered TROUBLE MAKER...I just love her humor....and I thank God for that Trouble maker that is taking such great care of my sister.

We go to church with this lovely family and I know they appreciate all the prayers more than anyone knows. They are a sweet sweet family and it hurts my heart to think of little Hannah. Kaye is a testiment to a strong christian woman, and we all take comfort in knowing where she will be.
