Vacation Part 3

We made a trip into Denver for a little over 24 hours. This is the sky line from our car on the interstate.

My cousin Christian...born June 2...what a cutie pie!

My cousins Derek and Ashleigh

Aunt Grace and Uncle Howard who were kind enough to let us stay at their house in Denver and cook us two yummy meals!

Colorado Rockies v. LA Dodgers...the field from our seats. Thanks Kevin for the tickets and treating us to lunch! By the way, the Rockies won!

Josh and I in our seats at the Rockies game...can you tell from our hair that we just got rained on not long before this picture? :)

Sunset at Double Mule Shoe Ranch

Medicine Bow Peak a.k.a. "Snowy Range" is about a 20-30 minute drive from the ranch. It is drop dead gorgeous up here! (And cold...I wished I had brought my jacket!) The elevation is 10,800 feet.

Looking out over the Colorado Rocky Mountains (those mountains are MUCH farther away than they look!)

Josh and I had to have our pics taken in the snow since it was July 24th and there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground up here! Yes, I got hit with quite a few snowballs while we were up there.

Notice the dying trees on the right...they're being eaten by beetles all over this mountain (from a distance it's more red/brown than green). The only chemical that will kill them has been banned by the EPA, and the only other option is to have 2 or more consecutive nights below -40 degrees. Say a prayer that this will happen this winter to stop all the forests from dying!

You can't really tell, but that is a badger...we got so excited to see one at the ranch one day!
Well, that's all folks. We had a great time out west, and we are so thankful for all our family who welcomed us with open arms, gave us a place to sleep and food to eat! We're also thankful to be back home in the South. I'm convinced that Southern hospitality is still alive and well, and although we loved it out west, there's really no other place in the world like East Tennessee.

Gorgeous pictures, Leslie! It sounds like you two had a great time :) And I'm glad that Josh's surgery went well and he didn't have an ACL tear. Have a great weekend!
